A shout to the Mac users out there

I met a fellow writer at the Alfred Bradley workshop. I know, who did I expect to meet, a tapdancing gerbil in a beret? Anyway she is a Mac user and wondered if there were any handy templates or low cost (ideally free) software for radio play writing.

She'd tried the Scriptsmart at the BBC Writersroom with no luck. It gets twitchy (dies) if you don't have the exact operating system version. A search found a Pages Template by Brokensea but we wondered if the Mac crowd kn0w of any other options.

So help. Any of you creative gurus got any ideas? And no "buy a PC" comments from the rest please.

Big Ta.

I use Final Draft for most stuff, but let me have a think about it and if I come up with anything, I'll let you know. Buy a PC - not a chance! lol. ;)

No need to be a Mac guru. She needs Celtx, works on everything and it's free.

Celts didn't have radio templates last time I checked. Will have another poke today though.

Celtx, even.

They have something that claims to be a radio template, but it's like nothing we use in the UK. Have dropped them a line, so let's see if they get back to me.

Thanks for your contributions everyone. I've passed them on. There are times I'm glad I can't afford a Mac.

Now, now. Stay calm. Someone get the smelling salts. My machine has to do number crunching too.

FYI, they've got back and are looking into implementing the templates in CeltX some time in the next month or two.

Hi Piers

Thanks for doing all that and I will pass it on. Sorry didn't reply sooner. Was offline again.
